Inspired by exotic, ethnic and tribal design, Global Fusion is most commonly described as an eclectic mix of uniquely crafted items gathered from worldly travels. Filled with worn metal finishes, rustic materials and raw textiles, this exotic trend has been fully embraced by the lighting industry, and largely represented in some of the latest product releases from several manufacturers. Here’s a peek at a few of our faves…
Capital Lighting Fixture Co. has been a strong industry favorite for several years now with their simple and transitional product designs. But, we were blown away with their latest release showcasing the Global Fusion trend in a big way. Their Patinaed Black & Brass Pendant Collection wowed us with strong style lines and textured metal details. This collection evokes a bold and exotic feel, packing a perfect punch for any eclectic interior. Another favorite piece to date is their Brass Basket-Weave Pendant. A late release to their 2018 product line, the worn brass finish and woven textured bodice of this hanging beauty create such an original look on a transitional fixture-type, perfect for any globally inspired space.
Known for dynamic and innovative product design, Varaluz has been a pioneer in the lighting industry and their products continue to amaze us- one release after another. Their Bermuda Series has become a showroom favorite with its dynamic structured shaping and two-tone complementary metal finishes. Equally interesting and angular, their Geo Series demands attention with hand-forged metalwork and bold finish combination- mimicking the construction of early geodesic domes. Both of these collections fuse the sleek style lines of modern design with a more worldly inspiration. Most definitely globally infused!
The Vortic Flow Series from Minka Lavery showcases movement and energy in global lighting design. Dark bronze and mosaic gold bands are spun together, creating a woven tapestry that is stimulating to the visual senses. If you are looking for a fixture with dramatic global flair…this collection has it.
What could be more worldly feeling than gazing into a starry constellation? The Graham Pendant, from Savoy House, is dotted with a pattern of laser-cut holes creating texture and intrigue, and its black finish and gold-leaf interior make you feel as if you are gazing directly into a starry night sky, creating a dramatic surprise in any interior space.
