Michelle Savageau has been on staff at Creative Lighting since 2007 and has a degree in Interior Design. In June, Michelle attended the International Lighting Show in Dallas with the buying team from Creative. Here are some of her favorite peices along with some new finds.
This is my favorite ceiling fan ever, and has been for years. Made by Minka Aire, it’s beautiful, functional, ceiling sculpture! I love how the blades just melt around the body of the fan for a seemless design. I have used the fan with modern, mid-century, or classic interiors. The many color options (copper bronze, translucent, red, black, liquid nickel, white, maple, mahogony and Koa ) make it versitile as each finish creates a differnent feel.
This amazing work of art truly combines form and function. The fact that it’s available at a great price point, makes it even more appealing. This fixture is available in both hannered ore and a steel finish and is part of the Flow collections from Varaluz. I see this as a peice that can work in a modern or casual transitional/traditional settings.
This floor lamp, new from DVI, is so much better in person! Standing 64-1/2″ tall this would be perfect flanking an otherwise mundane, but clean entertainment center area. The crystals add lots of shimmer to the room and of course lots of bling! Adding a dimmer would be a great to gain some light control for those times when a soft glow would be more appropriate.
Because Mid-Century design is amazing, and on trend right now, this peice from Varaluz is a great way to incorporate that into your design. The use of tall, elongated pendants are fabulous for tall staircases, hallways, etc. They have a way of filling up a vertical space, and drawing the eye up to accentuate the architecture of the space.
Vintage, modern…this is a great combination of the two from Frederick Ramond. Orb shapes are very popular and this fun, rustic version adds a warmth and simplicity to any space. The wood tones combine with the iron work beautifully!
