Spring is an exciting time in the design industry. It is a season filled with fresh ideas, new products, a brighter color palette and something special known as the ASID Showcase House. For the last 19 years, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine and the American Society of Interior Designers of Minnesota have combined forces to create what many call the interior design event of the year. This year’s Edina home remodel consisted of twenty-four interior designers and thirteen vendor and product sponsors, including…Creative Lighting.
“It was such a great project to be a part of, “says Susan Rusnacko of Creative Lighting, “The homeowners and the team of designers were all a delight to work with, and really had a passion for what this house would become.” The extensive home remodel consisted of an almost complete interior gut- adding a spacious living area to the back of the home to accommodate the family of five, overlooking a beautiful pool and backyard. The 1950’s rambler is nestled in one of Edina’s treasured neighborhoods, on Knoll Drive, which was part of the main attraction for Dario and Jeanne Anselmo, who have lived in Edina for more than 15 years with their family. “Jeanne had a clear vision of the project at hand. It was important for her to keep a slightly traditional feel to the home, while updating it with some more interesting details and softer finishes,” says Susan, “Her design background made the selection process so easy. She really knew exactly what she wanted.” The home’s lighting selections consisted of a healthy mixture of traditional wood and iron chandeliers, some hints of cut glass and crystal woven through flush-mounts and sconces, and even a few more modern pieces- like the Oggetti blown glass pendants above the kitchen island. “It really was sewn together beautifully. When I walked through and was able to see the project in full completion, I was blown away by the end result,” Susan continued, “It’s an absolutely stunning family home!”
