THE WAIT IS OVER- our brand new ELEMENT- Reflections line is up and on display!

There’s a new kid on the block.  We have been patiently awaiting the arrival and installation of the beautiful new ELEMENT product line from Tech Lighting, and we are thrilled that we can finally share it with all of you.  Why the hype?  These award winning, patent-pending recessed lighting fixtures feature hidden rings of LED light reflectors within their structures, producing glare-free illumination while highlighting beautiful detailing of intricately designed interior surfaces.  This fusion of interior design and LED technology has redefined the use of recessed lighting at a fundamental level, and breathed new life into the recessed lighting market.  Better yet, these fixtures are fully dimmable- providing perfectly controlled, indirect illumination suitable for any residential or commercial application.  This recessed lighting makeover has created quite the industry buzz, and we are happy to be on board!

The ELEMENT Reflections units come in three different sizes: 5″, 8″ and 12″ diameters, as well as five different design styles: Torus, Bloom, Dune, Fleur, and Skye.  There are also two different ceiling appearance options: FLANGED, for a more traditional appearance, and FLANGELESS, for a more contemporary and seamless finish.  Check out the video below for an up close and personal look.

Ready to start the New Year all aglow?  Confused about how to create the best recessed lighting layout for your space?  Let us help you conquer your next recessed lighting project with our simple 5-STEP GUIDE to lighting success!

STEP 1: WHAT IS RECESSED LIGHTING?

First things first- What is recessed lighting?  Recessed lighting refers to an electrical housing unit that is set into a ceiling or wall structure, and finished with a trim piece to create a lighting source with little or no visual profile.  Commonly referred to as “can lighting” due to their shape, recessed lighting fixtures are an effective way to achieve ambient and accent illumination in both residential and commercial applications.

STEP 2: PRODUCT & APPLICATION

In order to choose the right type of recessed product for your space, we first need to determine what you are trying to light, and how much light your space will require.  Are you needing overall general illumination?  Or, are you trying to highlight an architectural element, or simply graze some beautiful artwork?  Your lighting goals and needs will dictate the type of recessed product to consider.  For example: to achieve even, general lighting for your space we would typically recommend recessed lighting trims that are 4″ or GREATER in aperture, and spaced in an even and uniform pattern on your ceiling.  It is common to choose trims that are smooth and reflective for this type of lighting need- such as smooth white or clear specular interiors.  For more specific applications where task or accent lighting is needed, we recommend trims that are 4″ or LESS in aperture, and spaced more strategically near the area needing to be highlighted.  The types of recessed trims typically used for these more detailed applications would be directional, such as adjustable gimble ring trims, or pinhole or slotted style trims.  There are also different types of housings (the portion that will be hidden behind ceiling or wall) available per your space requirements.  These include remodel housings and new construction housings as well as housings that are IC-Rated and Non-IC Rated.  We are able to help you determine what type of housings your recessed lighting will require based upon the details of your ceiling construction and type of ceiling insulation being used in your space.

Training, training, training.  It is an important part of this business, and our continual product training is what helps to make our Creative Lighting team stand superior within the industry crowd.  We are constantly striving to stay on top of today’s emerging product trends, technologies and advancements, so we can better serve our customers and continually provide them with the best overall lighting experience.
Having recently sent our sales team manager, Kyndra, to Diode LED’s product training center in California, we were eager to hear about her experience and what new information she would bring back to the team.  Being an industry leader in LED product innovation, we knew the trip to Diode would be filled with many enlightening moments (pun intended) to share.  Kyndra gives us insightful feedback from her experience-
“The whole experience was truly amazing.  I learned a lot about their product line and how it all goes together- from correct specification to installation, etc.  The biggest take away I received from the experience is that Diode LED is committed to providing the highest quality product.  They are never in a hurry to be the first to release a particular product design, and will not do so until it’s been thoroughly tested in their onsite research facility.  Everyone I met at Diode was extremely passionate about their product line, very open to hearing feedback on new ideas or ways to improve, and exhibited a clear love for what they do and the product they represent.”
